Interruptions
July 8, 2003
There may be a short interruption to our usual service. SWMBO has been checked into St Georges for observation. Nothing drastic, its more a precautionary move at the moment but as she won’t be updating her blog in the near future I may break my rules and start posting baby news here. The first item of which is, how many nappies?

Quotations
July 8, 2003
Taken from an IM session with the Brummie Pseudo-Salesman; BPS: “toooo much money for his own good” Yours truly: “not if he keeps spending it on non-refundable deposits for overpriced not very popular Japanese sports cars.”

Bah Humbug
July 7, 2003
Hot news on the internet today. Someone has come out and said that the information super highway is rubbish. Well, I like it. So there.

Ho Hum
July 7, 2003
Its Monday morning and I’m back at work. After a weekend of work. Luckily though, thanks to an enlightened employer and t’internet I didn’t have to come in to the office. I spent most of the weekend in the far south, picking up SWMBO from her dog sitting gig. It wasn’t all happy families and rambles though. After his family’s triumphant return from holiday the international man of tax and I found ourselves in the village pub, where a few soothing ales were consumed.

More Importantly
July 7, 2003
Have I mentioned how good Francis Dunnery is lately? No. Well he is. Go and buy one of his records. This week preferably. The 70’s throwback and I are going to see him live in September. Its in Wolverhampton, but the journey will be worth it. Even if it is on a school night.

Exercise Your Democratic Right
July 4, 2003
Vote in the duck’s worst ever movie poll. My suggestion of Nutty Professor II didn’t make it past the first round because not enough people supported it - cough. Luckily you, my happy readers, can restore my faith in you by pushing our next least favourite picture - Titanic - to the top of the list. Just click on this link, select your movie of choice from the drop down list and press the submit vote button.

Circlesquare
July 1, 2003
“which essentially meant you were about growing your hair and drinking lager.” Well, one out of two isn’t bad. It has recently come to my attention (via the back pages of this months Q magazine) that one of my favourite bands are touring in December. Which is funny, because the 70’s throwback and I went to their farewell concert back in 1994. Seeing as it’s The Wonder Stuff though, I’ll forgive them.In celebration I’ve now got “Construction for the Modern Idiot” on the stereo. It’s grebo-tastic.

Crap Word of the Week
June 27, 2003
This week I shall mostly be disliking “Bachelorette”. The word, people, is maiden.

Due to bad editing I put something wholely inappropriate here. If you want to read it then you’ll have to go to the other blog. Alternatively, pictures of kittens!

Never the Same
June 25, 2003
This morning saw the second edition of “mate versus mate, state versus state, date versus date”. Its not quite the same reading as watching, but even if it was on live (which I doubt) I was at work from 11 to 12 this morning. There is hope though, with a bit of luck those smashers at the ABC will have archived Roy and H.G.’s call of the event, one of the sporting year’s highlights.

The Worst Movie Ever
June 23, 2003
Is, without a doubt, Nutty Professor II. I should know, I’ve seen it twice thanks to the joy of transcontinental air travel. Do me a favour and go and vote for it at Scaryduck’s poll. Thanks. P.S. From our overdraft department, the Wife has discovered internet shopping from Boots. Dear lord, at this rate we will be overcome by cotton wool and nappies before you can say “maternity leave”.

Cloning
June 21, 2003
They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and bugger me if Palmer central doesn’t bear an uncanny resemblance to this web site. I’m still aesthetically challenged according to the content free Mr Palmer, but at least I’m XHTML compliant, unlike some people I can mention. That makes me at least one-nil on the techy stakes, and I’m not even taking into account nerd central.

More Quality Names
June 20, 2003
I don’t care how good the music is, I want to go and see Atomic Bitchwax on their upcoming tour. How can a band with a name that good be anything but top class?

Naming Names
June 20, 2003
There is a baby free zone, as previously stated, but I couldn’t resist pointing you towards the grandly titled Baby Name Inventor. Don’t like those? Well how about some boys. This could explain why everyone in show business (predominantly from across the pond) has such a daft moniker. So, to give junior a heads up in the business that is show, what do you think of Kanntchan Betawnabi Todd? No, probably not a winner.

Present for Ciaran
June 20, 2003
I’ve found the perfect t-shirt for Ciaran. The sad thing is, only he and I will get the joke. My other three readers will just be scratching their heads and saying “ugh?”. Still, this blog isn’t for you, its for me - so there, nerr, nerr, ne, nerr nerr.

Quote of the Day
June 17, 2003
“He often makes a gloriously wristy 17 before slapping a full-toss to cover.” - Lawrence Booth talking about Vikram Solanki in the Guardian Unlimited over-by-over report. Every day and in every way I’m learning to appreciate the Guardian more and more. Bless. The Drugs Don't Work
June 16, 2003
Its that time of year again. Runny nose, itchy eyes, comedy sneezing fits. So I’ve just popped out to Boots and bought some Clarityn tablets. I was really hoping I was over this hayfever thing, I mean it is soooo nineteen nineties, but it seems that my aversion to pollen is just as strong as it has always been. Of course, in Australia (bugger, we just missed the food and wine festival) I suffered not a single sniffle. Does this mean that antipodean pollen is less offensive than the variety we get in the mother country?
