In this week’s installment of drinking wine older than the kids I am featuring a 1997 Merlot from Saddlers Creek.

I keep setting myself goals to post here more often. And then I keep failing to meet them. I don’t think that the world needs to hear every random thought I have but I do want to be able to put some writing up here for posterity. At least I’d like to have my own copy of the amazing photos that I put on Instagram and witty bon mots that I cast up on Facebook from time to time.

Time for young people to get out on a boat again.

Did I mention that I took child 1 to see The Flaming Lips at the Opera House last week? Well I did and it was fantastic. Possibly the best live show that I have seen in quite a few years of watching live music. If you get the chance go and see them live - you won’t be disappointed.

Continuing our series of “drink wine older than the kids” this week I have poured a 1999 Annie’s Lane Shiraz from the Clare Valley

We have a new tradition of drinking wine on a Sunday that is older than the kids. This week’s treat is a Tyrrell’s Vat 9 from 2000.

Every Friday I’m going to post a favourite song or lyrical phrase that I have listened to in the last seven days. Here is our first; “Dayglo jesus on the dash Chalk marks on the road ahead Friendly fire in hostile waters”

Checking this site it appears that I have only put up one post this year. I think that it’s time to see if I can improve on that record. So here’s my plan. In 2019 I’m going to try and post at least one photo a week. Then I’m going to get ambitious and try and put up one story a month. Hopefully publishing this commitment will force my hand. If anyone is reading this feel free to remind me if I start falling behind.

JFGP and a group of classmates entered the Sydney Metro metrominds competition. And they won.

It’s the time of year when I fire up the Christmas playlist on Spotify and still find myself thinking that the line “top to toe in tailbacks” is one of the best lyrics in any pop song ever. Thanks Mr Rea for a top tune.
